Day 28: Jeff Bezos’ (amazon.com) 9 rules of success

He left a high paying job to bet on himself and start a .com business when everyone thought he was crazy.

He built it to become the largest retailer in the world and prove his doubters wrong. He’s now worth over $30 billion and is one of the top 15 richest people in the world. He’s Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon.com, and here are his Top 10 Rules for Success.

#1. Have No Regrets:
You want to project yourself to age 80, and then think back over your life, ask yourself if I try this thing and fail will I regret…maybe Yes…but if I don’t try, I know I will still regret it.
#2. Follow Your Heart Not Your Head
Sometimes, we let our intellectual selves over rule those passions. that’s what needs to be guarded against.
#3. Invest More in the product than Marketing
Put a vast majority of your resources, energy and talent into building a great product or service and put a smaller amount into shouting about it (marketing). Cos if you build a great product or service, your customers will tell each other about it.
#4. Pick a good name.
Amazan.com was previously called cadabra inc.
#5. Stand For something.
We raised the standard for being customer-centric. We know customers like big selection, fast-delivery and those things will be still true, 10 years from now. So you can count on those things. So we work on things that we know customers like. So amazon focuses on customer-first, which is easy to say but difficult to do.
#6. Focus on your passion
Focus on something has real customer value that you have a passion for and stay right there and let the wave catch you.
#7. Build a culture
#8. Premium products at non-premium prices
